New homes needed for white elephants

CELEBRATE spring by buying a white elephant or two at the white elephant sale at the new Enviro Centre at Ramsgate’s attractive whale deck this Sunday, September 1, from 9am to 1pm.

And if you have some unwanted white elephants taking up storage space at home, you can find them a new home by donating them to the conservancy. Just take them along to the Gaze Gallery in Ramsgate any time during office hours before the sale.

If you have never come across a white elephant you might not know that it is another name for something you don’t need or want. What you might consider a white elephant, however, might be seen as a treasure by someone else. Working on this premise, the Ramsgate Conservancy has decided to organise the sale. It is a fun way to raise funds and it is also a way of recycling and redistributing unwanted goods.

Donating your white elephants to the conservancy is a much better option than filling up our overworked landfill sites with them. The conservancy would welcome all unwanted goods including clothing, ornaments, Granny’s prized china, jewellery, pictures, tools, vases, glasses and anything else that is taking up valuable storage space in your home.

All bargain hunters are invited to support the conservancy by coming along to the sale. A number of valuable and interesting white elephants have been received and these will be sold at very reasonable prices. Tea and coffee will be available and the event offers residents and visitors the perfect opportunity to do some whale watching (or white elephant watching) from the whale deck and to see the new Enviro Centre.

Funds raised will be used to maintain and upgrade the whale deck and Environmental Centre for the benefit of all Ramsgate residents and visitors. All donations will be appreciated.
