Rotary’s melodrama will tickle your funnybone

THE Rotary Club of Shelly Beach hosts its fourth annual melodrama this year entitled ‘The Beat of the Street’ at Port Shepstone Civic Centre. This comedy stage show comprises various skits, parodying the rivalry between a typically South African and a typically Indian restaurant, across the street from each other, on Baker Street.

The show showcases the shenanigans taking place between the two restaurants in order to drum up business for their respective businesses, and how they eventually work together to liven up the Baker Street precinct. Various well-known members of the community, from different walks of life and various businesses and service clubs are taking part, trying very hard not to make fools of themselves on stage, acting totally out of their comfort zone. It’s going to be an evening of fun, fellowship and laughter!

Show dates are Thursday, October 2, Friday October 3 and Saturday October 4. Tickets are available from Hugh Strickland at R100 for the Thursday show, which includes a light finger supper and R140 for the Friday and Saturday shows, which include a three course meal. Contact him at 039 6821044.
