Saturday market expands
THE organic and home produce market at Ramsgate Lions’ Community Hall, every Saturday from 8am to 11am, is really starting to take off – and now it is set to grow even bigger.
The farm-fresh Kumnandi organic vegetables as well as the pesto, olive oils and artisanal cheeses and breads that go on sale on market day are snapped up with glee and the producers of these tasty items can hardly keep up with the demand.
With the success of their project, the Ramsgate Lions have decided it is time to expand the market. Janice Selkon invites anyone with home-made treats and local produce like eggs or honey to contact her at 083 7775131. She is drawing up an annual schedule for the market and would love to hear from local producers as soon as possible.
The community hall that is transformed into a bustling market place every Saturday is the old Ramsgate Bowling Club. The Ramsgate Lions have been instrumental in turning it into a useful venue for regular community events and one-off functions. Contact Janice if your club or organisation would like to make use of it.
And, if you want to fill your fridge and pantry with some good, tasty and wholesome food take your shopping bags to the market every Saturday. As well as supporting local enterprises you will be doing yourself a favour.
