Umzumbe hosts weekend of world-class music

MUSIC lovers will be treated to a great line-up of live music at The Rock Music Bistro this weekend.

Remember to bring along your own alcoholic drinks but the kitchen will be open and delicious meals will be available.

Renowned guitarist Steve Newman and golden-voiced Lu Dlamini are both impressive on their own but when these two great musicians share a stage expect dynamite.

They will be at The Rock this Friday, November 28 at 8pm. Entrance is R60 and their double act is a performance that shouldn’t be missed.

Lu, who comes from a musical South Coast family and is the youngest of 10 children, has a voice that was destined to be heard all over the world. She enjoyed a successful career as a backing singer to the cream of South Africa’s top musicians but has now has stepped into the limelight and her flawless voice is raised in songs of her own making.

A much-loved and extremely accomplished South African acoustic guitarist, Steve was a founder member of the popular African group Tananas. For thirty years he has collaborated with fellow South African guitarist, Tony Cox and they were both part of the legendary Aquarian Quartet, along with Greg Georgiades and the late Syd Kitchen.

He was also a member of Mondetta, a self-described ‘world music group’, with Gito Baloi (of Tananas) and Wendy Oldfield.   Call Shirley at 0721415621 to book.
