WIN ramble willl offer spring flower show
THE recent rain has resulted in a spectacular spring flower display in the Umtamvuna Gorge, so the next Walking in Nature (WIN) ramble should be a real treat.
Crag’s View Wild Care Centre is hosting this walk and will take nature lovers on a scenic route along the Umtamvuna Gorge escarpment. Meet at the centre this Sunday, November 3 at 8am.
The ramble will offer visitors magnificent scenery, plenty of wild flowers and interesting animals, birds and insects. There will be two routes, an easy one-hour stroll and a more challenging two-hour walk. The event will be dedicated to the memory of the late Tony Abbott, a renowned botanist and conservationist from the Port Edward area who spent so much time researching in the Umtamvuna Gorge.
Bacon and egg rolls and tea and coffee will be for sale at the finish. A donation of R20 per walker would be appreciated. All proceeds will go to Crag’s View to help fund its excellent wildlife rehabilitation work and conservation efforts. Please note, no dogs will be allowed.
To reach Crag’s View, follow the main South Coast Road to the Port Edward traffic lights then turn inland on the Izingolweni Road. After about 5km, turn left onto a dirt road at Coastal Farmers and follow the signs for about 1km.
