Winter Airshow set to soar in Margate
THE Margate Airshow is due to take off on Saturday, June 14, thanks to the sterling efforts of the organisers, and in particular the Hibiscus Coast Municipality.
There have been changes to airshow regulations to ensure greater spectator safety and the organisers have worked hard to ensure this is all in place.
The airshow is free to the public and offers a full day of piloted performances from around the country. It promises to be a fun family day out, so get your picnic blankets ready to witness the sky coming alive. Incredible displays of aerobatics, jet planes, choppers and parachute drops are set to enthrall.
The show will begin around 10am, starting with the opening parade. It will break for lunch between noon and 1pm when the public will be able to walk about the aircraft, get an up-close experience at certain displays and meet the pilots.
The show will wrap up before 4pm. A development programme will take place before the show to introduce local youth from surrounding schools to the world of aviation.
“The Hibiscus Coast Municipality is delighted that we will once again host the Margate leg of the series of Winter Airshows organised by our provincial government. This spectacle, which aims to showcase the aviation industry, has in the past been well received by many in our community,” said mayor, Cynthia Mqwebu.
Local airline CemAir is equally excited to showcase what Margate Airport has to offer.
