Mark McCarthy wins title in Lizzard SA Bodyboard Championships in Durban

The South African Bodyboarding Championships is an annual SABA event.

THREE times SA Bodyboarding champion Mark McCarthy of Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal added a fourth title to his bodyboarding career when he won the pro division of the Lizzard SA Bodyboard Championships at Bay Beach in Durban last week.

McCarthy looked comfortable in the tricky 2-3 meter surf to take the win ahead of C. Pass (WP) and M. Ostler (ETH).

The South African Bodyboarding Championships is hosted by eThekwini Bodyboarding and runs from October, 1 to 7 in association with the SA Bodyboarding Association (SABBA) and Surfing South Africa. SABA is an affiliate member of Surfing South Africa, the governing body for surf riding. Surfing South Africa is a member of the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) and the International Surfing Association (ISA).

SABA is the governing body of bodyboarding in South Africa and is a non-profit organization operating for the aim of developing and nurturing new bodyboarding talent, as well as providing rules and structure to contests from club level to national level.
