Ugu to head agency

All municipalities would help fund the entity if the transfer was approved.

HIBISCUS Coast Municipality has requested council to approve the transfer of the Hibiscus Coast Development Agency (HCDA) to Ugu.

This comes after discussions by mayors and the municipal managers who felt that the HCDA would reach its full potential if it was administered by Ugu.

This would mean Ugu as the district municipality would become the parent of the entity and the local municipalities would be required to support the sustainability of the HCDA.

HCM’s municipal manager, Max Mbili will engage with the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), the office of the Auditor General and the Audit Committee in order to comply with legislation in terms of the transfer.

Mr Mbili said that all municipalities would help fund the entity if the transfer was approved.
