Watchful cops make arrest

They recovered 808 grams of dagga and a cellphone suspected to have been stolen.

A SIXTH sense and a gut feeling led to the arrest of a man.

Major Gavin de Lange, Sergeant Marvin Haines and an administration clerk were heading home recently at around 5pm, when they saw a man walking on the toll road near Southport. Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said Major de Lange sensed that that all was not as it seemed.

“He turned around and stopped next to the pedestrian. When searching the suspect, Maj de Lange and Sgt Haines found a bag containing 808 grams of dagga as well as a cellphone which the man claimed to have picked up on the road.”

The man was arrested and charged with the possession of dagga and the possession of suspected stolen property.

The 27-year-old man appeared in court and the case was postponed.
