AN Oribi Gorge farmer had a frightening experience when he was attacked and robbed at his home last Friday.
“Alaxandra Gritti (51) was alone at the time, at his home in Camro Estates, Oribi Gorge, when about 10 armed men gained entry to his property at about 6pm,” said police spokesman Captain Gerald Mfeka.
“Once the men entered the house it is alleged that they started assaulting him. The men then demanded the safe keys and cash. After searching the house they found the keys to the safe, took firearms and cash,” said Capt Mfeka.
During the ordeal Mr Gritti had been hit several times with sticks and sustained severe head injuries.
The robbers fled taking electronic appliances including laptops and cellphones, as well as passorts, firearms and cash.
Mr Gritti was take to hospital by paramedics, where he received treatment.
A joint search operation with farmers, Vispol (crime prevention) detectives and the SAPS K9 Unit was conducted but no arrests were made on the day. Police are searching for the 10 men.
Paddock police are investigating a house robbery case.
