IZOTSHA Primary ‘s foundation phase pupils are appealing to the public to help them collect items for this year’s Santa Shoebox Project. The project aims to give Christmas cheer to underprivileged children by gifting them with a shoebox filled with treats and toys.
There is a trolley marked ‘Santa Shoebox’ at the Shelly Beach Spar where items may be left for collection. Alternatively, Bernadene Gets will be more than happy to collect your donation anywhere between Ramsgate and Shelly Beach. Items can also be dropped off at the school.
Thus far, parents and pupils have managed to fill 14 boxes and have another 30 boxes waiting to be filled.
In order to complete boxes, items such as puzzles, flash cards, story books or stickers, clothing, soft sweets like wine gums, jelly babies or sours are needed. Items for younger children could include clothing, bath towels, baby blankets or soft toys.
For teens, caps, sunglasses, toiletries, nail polish, make-up or deodorant are suggested. Other suggestions are gloves, scarves, sunglasses, hats, bangles, necklaces, clip-on earrings or hair accessories.
All the donated items have to be new and able to fit into a shoebox. The closing date for the project is Friday, September, 20.
