A WOMAN and three men were arrested in Turton, Mkholombe and Port Shepstone last Wednesday night in connection with the discovery of a body on a footpath between two schools in Albersville earlier this year.
Mjola Blessing Mnguni (40), was found dead in a shortcut between Jai Hind Primary and Port Shepstone Secondary on the morning of March 1. Mr Mnguni had multiple stab wounds to the chest, neck and lower body and defensive wounds on his hands. The pupils from Port Shepstone Secondary who found the body initially thought the man was asleep but then saw he was covered in blood. Mr Mnguni was dressed in work overalls and his wallet was found next to him. It was established that he had left for work at the Illovo Sugar Mill at 5am.
“Indications are that the woman hired the three men to kill Mr Mnguni and had paid R6 000 to one of the men. A fifth suspect, who is currently being held in Umzinto prison, has also been linked to the murder,” said police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid. The five will be charged with murder and will appear in Port Shepstone court soon. Detective Warrant Officer Vuyikile Radebe is the investigating officer. Detectives from Port Shepstone and Crime Prevention officers from Hibberdene SAPS made the arrests.
