A COUPLE on holiday from Johannesburg was attacked at near Sea Park beach a few hours ago. According to a fellow beachgoer, he heard a woman in her mid-twenties calling for help.
“I ran over and saw her husband lying unconscious on the sand with a wound to his head. The woman said her husband (30) had been hit three times with a sparkling wine bottle. I immediately contacted Lazer 911, police and paramedics. The man was stabilised and taken to hospital for treatment,” said the Good Samaritan.
The couple is believed to have been robbed of their camera, cellphone and other items. A description of the assailant was given to Lazer 911 officers and police and it is believed that a suspect has been arrested.The couple arrived at their holiday cottage last Friday and decided to take a walk along the beach before leaving for home tomorrow (Tuesday). An official police report is awaited.
