Cars on show at heritage festival

The line-up included a recently restored 1934 Ford truck.

THE Sports and Specials car group highlighted the automotive aspect of our heritage by ending its September car run at the Spiller’s Wharf Heritage Festival last week.

The run, from Shelly Beach to Hibberdene and back to Port Shepstone, was extremely well supported. This resulted in an impressive line-up of fine cars displayed outside Spiller’s Wharf while their owners enjoyed a sociable breakfast.

Eye-catching models included a lovely selection of beautifully restored and maintained British and American classic sports cars as well as some striking contemporary ones. Other interesting vehicles included an attention-grabbing newcomer, a gleaming, recently restored 1934 Ford truck, belonging to local car enthusiast Delvin Allan.

The Sports and Specials car group is an informal, unconstituted association of car enthusiasts who meet once a month for a breakfast run. Everyone with any sort of interesting vehicle, old or new, is welcome to join them.
