Siyakwazi appeals for clothing donations

The secondhand shop is running low.

Non-profit Siyakwazi is urgently appealing to the South Coast community to donate good quality second-hand clothing, shoes, accessories and small household items to support its second-hand charity shop, which is currently running low on stock.

All donations help sustain vital programmes for children with disabilities in rural KwaZulu-Natal, as all income generated through the shop is reinvested directly into Siyakwazi’s services.

This call comes amid National Child Protection Week 2026, which runs from May 31 to June 7 under the theme ‘Working Together to End Violence Against Children’.

The campaign highlights the shared responsibility of communities and organisations to end abuse, neglect and exploitation, while strengthening the protection and wellbeing of children across the country.

Siyakwazi supports children who are particularly vulnerable to neglect, exclusion and barriers to accessing education and healthcare services, and who are often not actively included in their communities.

Through its programmes, the inclusion-focused organisation works to improve access to disability support services while strengthening opportunities for participation and development for children with disabilities and their families.

“Every donation of pre-loved items helps us continue supporting children with disabilities who are too often overlooked and excluded,” says Siyakwazi manager, Mata Mzelemu. “By supporting our secondhand charity shop, you are helping us strengthen inclusion and ensure that vulnerable families can continue accessing support.”

South Coasters are encouraged to donate any unwanted items that are still in good condition. Donations can be dropped off at Marine Sentra, 990 Marine Drive in Shelly Beach marked for Siyakwazi/Luisa.
