Ratepayers praise municipal manager

Bendigo ratepayers' chairman is impressed by Max Mbili's vision.

THE Bendigo Ratepayers’ and Residents’ Association, which covers the area from Sea Park to Sunwich Port, has pledged its support for the new Hibiscus Coast municipal manager, Max Mbili.

“His vision is impressive and contains many promises for a rosier future for all ratepayers,” said the chairman John Irven after his association had met with Mr Mbili to discuss measures to improve productivity in all municipal departments. He said his association would back him all the way and thanked him for his courage and enthusiasm

Mr Irven added that both Mr Mbili and Ugu District municipal manager, ‘DD’ Naidoo, had informed the association that they were hard at work, weeding out fraud and corruption and putting measures in place to bring the guilty and the lazy to book.

Pointing out that there were far less complaints in the press regarding issues like refuse removal, verge cutting and potholes than there had been last year, Mr Irven said it appeared that Hibiscus Coast Municipality was starting to listen to ratepayers.

“Although some problems exist, efforts are being made in the right direction,” he said.

Mr Irven said his organisation encouraged the municipality to continue with its efforts and promised to support these efforts when necessary.
