THREE South Coast men, aged between 24 and 25, appeared in the Ramsgate Magistrate’s Court for various crimes on Monday this week.
They are facing charges of business robbery, house robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Police spokesman Captain Thulani Zwane said the men were arrested last month for a robbery that took place in Gamalakhe and they were linked to other crimes in the area, as well as in Ezinqoleni.
Captain Zwane said the men broke into a house at Mbeni ward, Ezinqoleni and assaulted the victims on August 16 just after midnight.
“They fled the scene with R500 and a minibus valued at R150 000,” he said.
However, a thorough investigation led to the vehicle being recovered in Port Edward.
In another incident in August, the suspects entered a shop and held up staff. They took cash, cigarettes and airtime before fleeing.
Last month, the suspects apparently entered a supermarket in Ezinqoleni and threatened staff with a firearm. They escaped with R7500.
Capt Zwane said that in the same month one of the suspects was arrested for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
