Going pink for Cansa

A large amount was raised for breast cancer.

SUID-Natal High’s grade 10 and 11 pupils joined forces with the community and embarked on a Pink Parade for Breast Cancer through Margate last Saturday.

A large group of supporters, dressed in pink and white, paraded with pink balloons, tins and banners from the old Clicks premises in Marine Drive to the amphitheatre near the beach.

Once gathered at the amphitheatre, the paraders were entertained by local dance groups, and a cheque was presented to Cansa by pupils from Suid-Natal High.

Suid-Natal High pupils Carla du Plessis, Melissa de Wet and Ilze de Wet, together with their teacher Tania le Roux and assisted by Cansa community mobiliser, Di Saunders raised a total of R24 000.

The pupils raised the money by sitting at malls during their weekends, selling cupcakes, beaded ribbons, badges and hosting civvies days. Mrs Saunders thanked everyone for generously supporting the cause.
