Dog found eating foetus

The baby may have been aborted.

A DOG was found carrying a dead foetus in Shobeni near Paddock on Monday this week.

Christopher Zamile Ngubane contacted Paddock police station after he saw the dog dragging the foetus home, presumably to eat it, at around 4.30pm. The dog was put on a leash and the police contacted.

“During investigations police found that the  foetus’s head and left arm were missing,” said police spokesman, Captain Gerald Mfeka. “Both its legs were also injured.  It is believed that the remains were consistent with a foetus of around six months’ gestation.”

It is suspected that the baby had been aborted. The remains were taken to the state mortuary for a post-mortem to be conducted. Paddock police have opened an inquest docket.
