PORT Shepstone Senior Primary was turned into a colourful mini-market last Thursday when gr 7 pupils explored their entrepreneurial skills as an extension of their EMS programme.
After being advised of the different ‘forms of ownership’, as well as advantages and disadvantages of each, pupils either traded as sole proprietors or partnerships.
A total of 83 stalls offered a varied shopping experience ranging from arts and crafts, to a ‘shisa nyama’ and a food court, as well as a gaming arcade for the ‘techno boffs’. The day was preceded by intensive marketing and advertising, which paid off for most of the young entrepreneurs who walked off richer than their teachers at the end of the day.
Pupils have entered the final lap of the academic year and are now full swing into final exams.
Parents are reminded of the AGM/budget meeting in the main school hall on November 19 at 6pm. A meeting for all parents of newly-accepted 2014 applicants will be held in the school hall on November 20, at 5.45pm.
