Leon Garbade announced as DA mayoral candidate in Ray Nkonyeni Municipality
The announcement was made in Durban earlier today.
The Democratic Alliance (DA) has announced that Ward 12 councillor Leon Garbade will be standing for the mayoral position in Ray Nkonyeni Municipality (RNM) in November’s Local Government Elections.
The announcement was made in Durban earlier this morning.
Garbade has served as a councillor at RNM since 2016 and is vocal about issues in communities in the municipality.
Provincial Leader of the DA, Sthembiso Ngema, said it’s simple: the municipalities the DA candidates will be contesting are collapsing municipalities.
“Only the DA will be able to bail out these municipalities; only the DA knows how to handle finances, only the DA knows how to take accountability and the importance of bringing business so that we all get equal opportunities for everyone. The DA also knows how to treat everyone fairly.”
Garbade has accepted the responsibility and said he will work every day to fix what has been neglected.
“We are coming in with a plan; our plan is informed and driven by the residents.”
This is the first time the DA has announced a mayoral candidate in RNM.
