Ministers visit Merlewood Primary

Pupils impressed with their commitment to creating a ‘green’ environment at school.

NATIONAL Children’s Day was celebrated at Merlewood Primary with the national minister for Women, Children and People with Disabilities, Lulu Xingwana, and Social Development MEC, Weziwe Thusi. Staff and pupils were honoured to share the morning with these national and local dignatories, which included the mayor of Ugu District Municipality, the mayor of Hibiscus Coast Municipality, as well as representatives from different governmental departments.

Pupils impressed with the different articles made from recycled material and their commitment to creating a ‘green’ environment at school. In her motivational address to pupils, Minister Xingwana pledged to assist the school with challenges experienced and encouraged pupils to stay safe.
