Marburg pensioner tied up, robbed

Tear gas was sprayed in the man's face.

AN elderly man was tied up, blindfolded and robbed at his home in Short Street, Marburg last Friday. Two women arrived at the 76-year-old victim’s house at about 8.30am on the pretext of wanting to rent the outbuilding. The man was alone at the time.

“As soon as he opened the security gate to let the women in, a male accomplice who had remained out of sight, sprayed tear gas in the man’s face,” said police spokesman, Captain Vincent Pandarum. “The elderly man was then pushed to the floor before being tied up and blindfolded. The trio then ransacked his house and fled with an undisclosed sum of money.” Port Shepstone detectives are investigating.
