WOODGRANGE Primary’s 2013 awards day was a historic one when parents entered the new ‘Seedambaro Chetty Hall of Education’ to loud welcoming applause from pupils and teachers alike. Parents sat enthralled as they watched pupils take part in delightful plays, recitals, dance and musical items.
Seeing parents beam from ear to ear with pride as pupils received their awards was the highlight of the awards ceremony. The top achiever for 2013 was none other than gr 7 pupil Thandolwakhe Zungu.
The guest of honour, former principal Sweady Chetty, congratulated all award winners and praised parents for taking an active role in supporting the educational needs of pupils. Sweady encouraged pupils who underperformed to work harder because, he said, education was an investment in the future.
Acting principal, Dr Maliga Chetty, expressed her gratitude to Steve Coulson and Marie van Rensburg from the Lions Club of Hibberdene for donating library books to the school and also extended well wishes to gr 7 pupils who leave to attend high school next year.
