POLICE seized 95 dagga plants at a house in Murchison on Tuesday this week.
Constables Travis Dickens, Armstrong Ncane, Raphael Smithwick, Akesh Maharaj, and Lucky Mthembu from the Port Shepstone public order policing unit searched the house following a tip-off.
The officers discovered 95 dagga plants in the back yard. A 46-year-old man was arrested. He will appear in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court on charges of cultivating dagga.
On the same day, the officers confiscated a shotgun with three rounds of ammunition and a .38 revolver with one round from a 67-year-old man in the Langabalela area near Murchison.
Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said the man was arrested after he assaulted a 65-year-old man. The firearms were licensed. He is currently in detention and will appear in court soon on charges of assault and malicious damage to property.
