MARBURG Secondary hosted a successful speech and awards day last Thursday. The guest speaker for the evening was Desan Moodley, a former pupil at Marburg Secondary and a business unit manager at Zetachem Speciality Chemicals in
Durban. In his keynote address, Mr Moodley stressed the importance of self-belief and dedication, mentioning that one must not be afraid of being different and that sacrifices are necessary in order to succeed.
Deneshran Goberdan received the ‘Powys Family Goodfellowship’ award for his contribution to the school during the past year. Zhané Solomon took third place in gr 12, as well as the ‘Meritorious Performance Award’ sponsored by SR Electrical. Venusha Govender walked away with second place in gr 12 and the ‘Proxime Accessit Award’, sponsored by Jay’s Studio. The biggest winner of the day was Noluthando Mpungose, who won the ‘Gail Papli Shield’ for top science pupil, as well as the coveted dux award, sponsored by Nedbank.
