Murder accused re-arrested

The man was nabbed by the Durban Task Team.

SANDILE Mzizi, who failed to appear for trial in Ramsgate High Court, was re-arrested in the Durban area on Tuesday morning this week.

The murder accused, who has been on the run since October this year, was arrested by the Durban Task Team.

Mr Mzizi appeared in the Ramsgate High Court yesterday (Wednesday) and the case was postponed until next year.

Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said he will also appear in a Durban court for a murder which occurred in that area. He will remain in custody.

Mr Mzizi was due to appear in the Ramsgate High Court, together with his co-accused Detective Basil Crouse, for the alleged murder of Pat Mvubu, who was killed at Makhoso Location, near Hibberdene, in April 2011.

At the time, Det Crouse was allegedly following up on information related to an attempted murder in the Sawoti area.

When police stopped a vehicle with three suspects, the occupants allegedly alighted and began firing their weapons.
