TWO men, charged for murder and armed robbery, appeared in the Ramsgate Magistrate’s Court on Monday this week.
The case has been postponed to December 11.
Members of the Margate SAPS arrested the men at an informal Margate settlement last Friday.
The breakthrough came after Siyabonga Mzizi (30) was found with stab wounds on his body on the R61 freeway in Margate on October 5. He sustained fatal stab wounds on the left hand, neck and chest.
Police spokesman Colonel Jay Naicker said the men, aged 22 and 24 years old, were arrested. One of the suspects was also linked to three armed robbery cases reported in the Margate area this month.
“A cellphone that was stolen from the deceased was also recovered,” said Col Naicker.
The provincial commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni, commended the good work by Margate police.
“This arrest shows that we are turning the tide against crime. Criminals must know that no matter where they attempt to hide, we will still find them,” she said.
