PORT Shepstone Primary held its annual awards ceremony at the Port Shepstone Civic Centre on November 28. The top five achievers in each class were awarded book prizes, and a reading award went to the top reader in each grade. Parents were well entertained by two dance troupes, with the first group delighting parents with a traditional Zulu dance, and the second group, led by Mlondi Mkhize, amazing parents with a Bollywood dance.
As always, the gr 7 awards are the most anticipated of the evening. Sonali Badrinath took the English and the ‘Good Fellowship Award’, Vuyokazi Mbumbe scooped the Afrikaans, life orientation and technology awards, while the top achiever, Amahle Mathe, won the natural science, mathematics, social science, arts and culture and economic management science awards. As a result of this outstanding achievement, he also won the dux award. The event was an overwhelming success with positive and encouraging comments received from parents.
