Tis the season to be careful
Don't become a drowning or accident statistic these holidays.
NETCARE 911paramedics who, since December 1 have attended to 327 vehicle accidents, 34 pedestrian accidents and eight cases of drowning in Kwa-Zulu Natal, remind visitors and residents to take extra care over the busy holiday period.
“Paramedics and emergency services staff are pleading with motorists to adhere to the speed limits on the road. Increase your following distances. Please keep your headlights on in poor weather conditions to increase your visibility. Make sure you and your passengers wear seat belts,” said Netcare Limited media liaison officer, Chris Botha.
Many holidaymakers will spend time at the beach, near dams or around swimming pools.
“Make sure children do not go into the water without parental supervision.Only swim at designated places and make sure there are lifeguards on duty when you go to the beach. Do not consume alcohol when you are going to swim.” he advised.
