THERE were to be no ‘takeaways’ for a Gamalakhe man who tried to rob C-Bali Restaurant in St Michael’s on Tuesday this week.
Swift work from the Margate police, Hibiscus Coast Protection Services and Maser Security saw the 27-year-old man caught in the act.
Police spokesman Captain Gerald Mfeka said the restaurant had been locked at 10pm and that the alarm was activated.
“At about midnight the alarm was set off. Warrant Officer Trevor Moodley from Margate SAPS, Darren Govender from protection services, together with Maser Security, responded and arrested the man inside the restaurant,” said Captain Mfeka.
It is alleged that the perpetrator gained entry to the restaurant by breaking a window. Nothing was taken.
Owner of the restaurant Christopher Hulley, applauded the excellent work done by the police, Maser Security and protection services.
“This was excellent teamwork all round. Even after the arrest the officers were very helpful,” said Mr Hulley.
The man was arrested and charged for housebreaking and is due to appear in court soon.
