A THIEF (18) who broke into a flat in Margate this week was afterwards found fast asleep underneath a bridge not far from the scene of the crime.
The man was arrested during the early hours of January 13 by Sergeant Desmond Theunissen and his patrol dog Rex. He still had some of the stolen property with him.
As a result of this arrest, Sgt Theunissen was able to arrest another man (19) as well. He had also been in possession of some of the stolen property.
The owner of the flat, in Lagoon Drive, opened a case when she discovered that the flat had been broken into on the night of January 12.
Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said jewellery, clothing, computer equipment and a television were stolen.
Both men will be charged for housebreaking and theft and will appear in the Ramsgate Magistrate’s Court soon.
