A MAN who was arrested for being in possession of heroin in Port Shepstone in September last year has been arrested again, this time for being in possession of 10 straws of heroin and 20 mandrax tablets.
Admiral Mlungisi Luthuli (31) was nabbed by the police on Thursday last week. He was due to appear in court for the first charges on January 23.
Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said that a cellphone and R1 420 cash had been confiscated.
Luthuli duly appeared in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court last Friday. The case was postponed for further investigation.
Lt-Col Wiid said the policemen who arrested him were Warrent Officer Patrick Gosling, Constable Travis Dickens and Cst Raphael Smithwick.
In a separate incident, a 26-year-old man in possession of 600 straws of heroin was arrested by Port Shepstone K9 unit officers in Shelly Beach last Friday.
After the arrest police went to the man’s house in Gamalakhe where they found an unlicensed Taurus revolver, 10 rounds of ammunition, a laptop and Sony Playstation, which are all believed to have been stolen.
He appeared in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday this week. He has been charged for dealing in drugs and being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
In another incident, a 28-year-old man was arrested by the same officers in Port Edward last Friday for possession of 19 ecstasy tablets. He appeared in the Ramsgate Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday with being in possession of drugs.
