Heroin suspect adds to his woes

A MAN who was arrested for being in possession of 38 straws of heroin, attempted to escape by kicking his way out of the police van.  Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said Mthobisi Mbhele (20)  caused extensive damage to the van’s door.

Mbhele was arrested at Port Shepstone taxi rank by Warrant Officer Patrick Gosling and his colleagues last Thursday. “While he being taken to the police station, he kicked the door of the van in an attempt to escape,” she said. Lt-Col Wiid said Mbhele was also charged with malicious damage to property.

He appeared in Port Shepstone magistrate’s court last Friday where the case was postponed to February 3 for further investigation.
