Problems continue to plague Sheppie church

Despite the Herald highlighting the problems last year, the issues have not been resolved and are in fact getting worse.

DUMPING and illegal parking practices have become more than a bit bothersome for the parishioners of St Katharine’s Anglican Church in Port Shepstone.

Despite the Herald highlighting the problems last year, the worrying issues have not been resolved and are in fact getting worse.

Last week, a staff member from the church needed to leave the premises in an emergency, but was unable to get out due to a driving school truck being parked in the way, illegally, at the Reynold’s Street entrance to the church.

The entrance is also unsightly. A section of the cemetery wall is broken, and there are heaps of rubble lying around.

Further, piles of rotting litter are strewn everywhere and the stench of urine is overpowering.

Hibiscus Coast Municipality spokesman, Simon Soboyisa, said this complaint has been brought to its attention on numerous occasions.

“We have sent law enforcement officials to go and issue fines,” he said.

Mr Soboyisa said that HCM was to call an urgent meeting with the driving school operators with the aim of finding a lasting solution.

He said the issue of dumping was also being attended to.
