Woodgrange Primary forges new partnerships

This is going to be an exciting year for pupils.

TEACHERS and pupils at Woodgrange-on-Sea Primary are ecstatic because acting principal Dr Maliga Chetty forged a partnership with the Hibiscus Coast Municipality arts and culture manager Thembi Khawula and the Port Shepstone senior librarian Susan Roos. What this essentially means is that the library, which was used as a storeroom for many years, would be revamped and made accessible to the pupils. A ‘clean up’ began at the end of last year, when all teachers gave a helping hand to make the library accessible to pupils again. It is currently in use.

At a meeting held last Monday, a plan of action was designed to secure ongoing support from Mrs Khawula. The scope of support and partnership will however extend beyond the school library and will include internet assistance with pupil curriculum projects, participation in artistic and cultural competitions, etc. Dr Chetty said that 2014 is surely going to be an exciting year for Woodgrange pupils in terms of research and skills development, among others. Training for the school librarian Raveena Durbal began on January 29.

Parents are to please take note that there are still a few places available for grades 4 to 7 new admissions.
