Matrics get a second chance
Unhappy matriculants can apply for remarking of their papers.
MATRICULANTS who are not satisfied with their results can apply to get their scripts remarked or rechecked.
The Department of Basic Education says candidates can get application forms for rechecking and remarking from schools and exam centres or from district offices.
Candidates will be charged R79 for remarking, R16 for rechecking and R157 for viewing a rechecked or remarked examination script.
Candidates from no-fee schools wil be exempted from payment.
Education Department spokesman Elijah Mhlanga said that candidates who did not meet the minimum requirements but need as many as two subjects to obtain a National Senior Certificate may sit for the supplementary examinations.
This also applies to candidates who are one requirement short for admission to higher education studies.
“They may also qualify if they could not sit or finish the exams because of medical reasons, a death in the family or other special circumstances”, said Mr Mhlanga.
