ISLAMIC School constantly endeavours to develop its pupils holistically and in keeping with the school’s year planner, scheduled parent/teacher orientations were held for grades 1 to 12. Parents and pupils were given a handbook outlining requirements for the academic year ahead. To maintain constant communication, the school’s pocket-sized pupils’ handbook will further assist in forward planning.
Weekly themed assembly talks on various topics presented by Moulana Imran Khamissa and Mufti Iqbal Bux on subjects like ‘etiquette’ and ‘greeting’ are some of the 40 themes lined up for the year.
To foster leadership skills amongst pupils, Yusuf Gangat coordinated the election of the school’s RCL committee. Congratulations to successful leaders, Usama Kadwa (gr 7), Faatima Musa (gr 8), Bilal Bux (gr 9), Ridwaan Bux (gr 10), Swaleha Khan (gr 11) and Ridwaan Moosa (gr 12). These ‘pupil reps’ prepare for a busy leadership year ahead.
The first ‘support classes’ and gr 12 enrichment classes began last Friday and pupils are taking advantage of these well-attended extra lessons.
Gr 12s generously treated patients to sandwiches, apples and bottled water at the Port Shepstone Clinic this past Monday. Sr Vatiswa Vuza thanked pupils for this caring gesture, as many patients travelled long distances and left home early in the morning. It was heartwarming to see the smiles on patients’ faces as they tucked into their treats.
Dr Mahomed Karodia will present an interactive programme ‘My career, my future’ in the school hall this Friday, 31st at 7.15pm and parents and pupils from grades 9 to 12 are invited. This informative session outlines career trends amidst the socio-economic landscape.
