SHEPPIE High’s biathletes did well at a recent KZN league meeting and pupils were awarded medals for their achievements. Gold medals went to James Mellors (boys U19) and Robynne Theron (girls U19), a silver medal was awarded to Thomas Russell (boys U18) and a bronze medal to Jessica Grove (girls U17).
The cricket season started with the first team beating Creston by 76 runs. PSHS batted first and made 160/3 with Yogeshan Pillay contributing 77 of those runs. Creston fought back and were 84 all out. Lionel Wentzel took 5/10. The first team, U15s and U14s played against Southcity and regrettably Sheppie High lost by only a few runs in each match.
The basketball teams have started well this season with the U16s beating Rossburgh 38-8 and New Forest 22-14. The other teams played New Forest and attained some pleasing results. The first team won 24-17, U15 won 25-21, U14A won 14-8 and U14B won 9-6.
Sheppie touch rugby teams travelled to Durban to take part in the league. The first team girls drew one all against St Benedicts, the second team girls lost to Fatima and the first team boys lost to Westville.
On Friday, the outgoing TADA (Teenagers Against Drug Abuse) committee of 2013 had their farewell at John Dory’s in Shelly Beach, where they planned the forthcoming awareness week, to be held later in February.
