Help find these armed robbers

A warrant of arrest has been issued for the two men.

THE public is urged to help detectives at Port Shepstone Organised Crime Unit with information regarding the whereabouts of Xolani Mpisane (33) and Lungani Gumbi, aka Mpetha (28).

The men are wanted in connection with an armed robbery that occurred in February 2013. Warrants for their arrests have been issued.

Police spokesman, Captain Thulani Zwane, said it was alleged security guards were delivering cash to a bank in Margate Street, Ixopo, on February 11, 2013 when they were approached by a group of men who threatened them with firearms.

“The suspects took an undisclosed amount of cash, as well as a firearm belonging to one of the security guards before they fled the scene on foot. No one was injured during the robbery,” he said.

Later during an intensive investigation, two suspects, Thobani Shozi (25) and Wandile Khumalo (24), were arrested and charged with armed robbery.

Khumalo pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment by the Ixopo Regional Court in November last year.

Shozi is still in custody pending his trial in March 2014, and is also facing another case of possession of a hijacked motor vehicle in Newcastle.

Anyone who can assist with any information regarding the whereabouts of the above persons should urgently contact the investigating officer Detective Warrant Officer Stompie Sonnekus at 082 7788932 or the Crime Stop number 08600 10111.
