IZOTSHA Primary had a busy sporting week with excellent achievements. Rebekah Shipley and Caitlin and Rachel Upfold represented Izotsha Primary at Shongweni in the South African National Equestrian Schools Association (SANESA) qualifying rounds. Rebekah was placed first and fourth in dressage and third in working riding. Caitlin took part in dressage, equitation and showjumping in the novice class. Rachel competed in dressage, equitation and showjumping, and came second in working riding. All made pleasing progress and did their school proud.
The cricket boys had a triumphant week against Port Shepstone Senior Primary. Port Shepstone U11A batted first and made 46 all out. Josh Parry took three wickets, Chad Laycock two and Seth Broom two. Izotsha reached their score in the fifth over and lost no wickets. Senior Primary’s B team batted first and made 35 runs. Izotsha matched their score in the ninth over. Matthew Bense, Seth Bezuidenhout and Kai Hielckert were the players of the day. The U13A team won by 42 runs, Izotsha batted first making 103 runs with a loss of only three wickets. PSSPS were bowled out for 59 runs in the 19th over. Chad Laycock and Anthony Dunford (U11) were selected to play in a double wicket tournament at Suid-Natal, winning the tournament. Anthony was awarded the ‘best batsman’ trophy.
A number of pupils took part in the Midmar Mile at the weekend and all did well even though there were strong winds and currents.
