IT WAS a sweet start for Islamic School’s gr 1s when they visited Milky Lane at Southcoast Mall. Pupils had fun decorating their ice creams and rehearsing table etiquette.
Islamic School continues to hold rank amongst the top achieving schools. Khadija Gani, the school’s dux was honoured at the Association of Muslim Schools’ (AMS) provincial awards held in Durban. Khadija was placed 24th amongst the top 30 matric achievers provincially and also received the award for highest marks obtained in Afrikaans.
Pupils who had completed Hifz (memorisation of about 800 pages of the Holy Quraan) were also honoured. Mahmood Hassan Memi (gr 10), Salmaan Yunos (gr 12), Yacoob Ismail (gr 12), Muhammad Amajee (gr 7) and Suhail Kadwa, received certificates.
A ‘Careers Information Seminar’ was presented by the school director, Dr Mahomed Sayeed Karodia, in the school hall for grades nine to 12 and covered entry requirements to tertiary institutions and current career landscapes within the socio-economic and political landscape in South Africa.
Grade 12 pupils attended a ‘Careers Expo’ at the Ugu Sports and Leisure Complex in Gamalakhe, where tertiary institutions exhibited career options.
