SWEETDALE CAMP was host to 43 gr 7 potential prefects from RA Engar Primary. Tense looking boys and girls waited anxiously for the trainers to commence the programme. Once started, the pupils relaxed and seemed comfortable with the challenging activities. Trainers skilfully put the pupils through their paces where they conquered fears, worked in groups and showed exceptional team spirit.
An evening braai rounded off an eventful day, followed by a treasure hunt. There was no need for an alarm clock the next morning, as a shrill whistle blast, followed by a countdown, brought all pupils scurrying to a warm-up session. After a quick breakfast, activities and acquired skills included building shelters, making fires and cooking meals.
Returning home on February 14, these pupils reported that it was a highly educational and unforgettable experience. The 2014 prospective prefects returned wiser, more determined, dedicated and better equipped to carry out their duties.
