BRAZEN robbers don’t appear to be fazed by burglar guards or the time of day that they strike. In a recent case in Pumula, it appears robbers used a car jack to wrench the burglar guards from the wall.
Andy Vorster, who is a caretaker for holiday homes in Pumula was shocked at how robbers recently broke into a holiday home in the area. The thieves broke into the house at around 3pm, and managed to steal many electrical items, including a lamp and a bar fridge.
Mr Vorster said the robbers jumped over the garden wall and fled with the items through the bush and over the R102 main road. However, when they saw the security company’s guard, who had responded to the house’s alarm, and Mr Vorster, they dropped the bar fridge, which was recovered.
The robbers broke the corner of three windows before bending open the burglar guards of the fourth window. “A normal person can’t open burglar guards like this.” he added. The robbers also kicked open one of the wooden doors. He encouraged residents to be extra careful, as criminals nowadays are ‘professionals’.
