SOUTHCITY’S first girls’ hockey team came fourth out of ten teams at the Spar tournament in Matatiele recently, despite injuries and illness. Southcity looks forward to hosting this tournament next year.
Preparatory fixtures against Port Shepstone Senior Primary during the week were U13A won by 17 runs at home; U13B won by 10 wickets at PSSP; U11A won by 34 runs at PSSP and U11B lost by 6 runs at home. The U13A team played against the touring Glenashley U13A side, losing by 3 wickets.
Last week Southcity Junior Primary held a well-supported annual interhouse gala, where parents and family members eagerly cheered encouragement. All three houses Judah, Levi and Asher, dressed for the occasion, making for a colourful event. All pupils, including gr Rs, took part and the ‘fun’ races proved a great success with younger pupils, whilst the more proficient swimmers earned points for their houses. This year Judah was the deserving winner followed by Levi in second place and Asher in third.
