A LARGE quantity of suspected stolen property and an unlicensed firearm were recovered by police after a house was robbed in Ramsgate.
“On Monday this week, a domestic worker was held at gun point while four suspects ransacked the house,” said police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid. The men fled with various items.
Warrant Officer Patrick Gosling, Constable Travis Dickens, Cst Raphael Smithwick, Sergeant Anil Dawlat, Cst Mduduzi Makhaya and Cst ‘MC’ Mjweni responded and obtained a description of the getaway vehicle.
“Shortly afterwards the officers spotted the vehicle, a blue bakkie with NUZ registration plates, in Shelly Beach. The officers stopped the vehicle and arrested three men,” said Lt-Col Wiid.
A large amount of suspected stolen property, including two flat screen television sets, a microwave oven, a hair dryer and various sim cards, was found in the back of the vehicle. An unlicenced 9mm pistol was found in the cab.
The men will face charges of house robbery, possession of an unlicenced firearm and suspected stolen property. They will appear in court soon.
