Uvongo retains tennis trophy
Having beaten Southbroom last year, Uvongo Tennis Club does it again.
APOLOGIES for incorrect information in last week’s news. Uvongo had not lost the previous round robin played with Southbroom TC so therefore were hoping to retain the trophy! The weather on Sunday was particularly hot and humid so some players struggled to keep up with play, which was of a high standard.
It was great to have spectators getting involved with encouraging comments and clapping but also laughter at ‘unforced or forced’ errors made. Uvongo fortunately retained the trophy, which was presented to the couple who won the most number of games, Ellene Barbadimos and Duncan Biggar of UTC, by the chairman, Jan Visser.
Val Kriel and her team were also thanked for providing the snacks for tea and salads for the braai and also for the making of teas, washing up and general cleaning afterwards. Many people stayed to braai, which was a great way to end the day. The club hopes to arrange another ‘play date’ in the not too distant future.
It is disappointing to note that few names have been placed on the list to attend the CPR training on April 5 at 11am at the club. Members unsure of the importance of this training should perhaps chat with those who attended the initial training. With no negative feedback having been received, members are encouraged to reconsider their decision. The knowledge you will gain may save a life.
Duty list: Friday (public holiday) – Willem Erasmus; Saturday – Bossie Hattingh; Monday – Jan K, Wednesday – Annette Perrow.
