Oribi Gorge swing is back in action

Two additional safety procedures have been implemented.

IT is business as usual at the Wild 5 Adventures Gorge Swing, which reopened last Friday.

The swing has been closed since last month, following the tragic death of Wild 5 employee Thokozani Robson Mncube.

Thokozani (26), an adventure tour guide at Wild 5, allegedly attempted to perform a trick jump of his own when he plunged 165 metres to his death on Friday, February 28.

Paul Jefferys, owner of Wild 5, said intense independent and internal investigations had been carried out to establish whether this accident could in any way have been caused by a failure of either an operating procedure, or equipment.

“A considerable deviation from the normal operating procedure in order to perform a stunt jump was the consensus of these investigations,” he said.

Furthermore, Mr Jefferys said that, as a result of these investigations, two additional safety procedures had been implemented.

Mr Jefferys said he would like to  thank everyone for their phenomenal support and assistance during this difficult period.
