Justice served at Scottburgh court for domestic violence victims

The men have been sentenced accordingly.

The Scottburgh Regional Court recently ensured that justice was served to two South Coast domestic violence victims.

In the first case, Sluleko Brian Ncwane (25) was convicted on June 17 for a December 27, 2024 case regarding his sister. Reports indicate that Ncwane and his sister were at home with their mother in Dingimbiza, Mtwalume when he initiated an argument with his sister. They argued in the kitchen and he began to hit her. Police stated that Ncwane then took a knife and threatened to stab her.

He fled the scene and was thereafter arrested by Hibberdene Saps members. The investigating officer in this case was Detective Constable Mthokozisi Khumalo.

Ncwane received a sentence of five years’ imprisonment, wholly suspended for five years.

In the second case, Mpendulo Cyprian Msomi (37), was also convicted on June 17. This came after a stabbing incident on March 22 last year.

Police reports indicate that Msomi stabbed his 21-one-year-old nephew while at home in the Nomakhanzana area in Mtwalume.

His nephew sustained serious stab wounds to the neck, face and eye; and was admitted to hospital for further medical treatment. Due to the seriousness of the facial injuries, the victim lost an eye.

Msomi was arrested by Hibberdene Saps and made several appearances in court.

He has received a 10-year prison sentence.

The investigating officer in this case was Detective Sergeant Fikile Ngubane.
