Robbers caught in Shelly Beach

Much stolen property was recovered.

A METERED taxi driver and three other men were arrested for being in possession of stolen property in Shelly Beach on Sunday.

Port Shepstone SAPS members, Warrant Officer Patrick Gosling, Constable Travis Dickens and Constable Raphael Smithwick, arrested the alleged robbers.

Police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid, said a man (42) was found in a room of a house in Shelly Beach, and when the owner shouted at him, he ran away.

However, he was later arrested by police, and is thought to be involved in other housebreakings in the area.

Police arrested a metered taxi driver (49), who was found in possession of tools, allegedly stolen from the Shelly Beach area.

Lt-Col Wiid said two other men, aged 23 and 25, were arrested and were detained for both house and business breakings in the area.

“A lawnmower and computer equipment was found in their possession,” she said.
